Bostwick named BPSD's 2010 teacher of the year; Fouts wins Schmoldt Teacher Appreciation Award

On a night during which the Bartlesville Public School District showcased its stars, Keri Bostwick shined the brightest.

A language arts instructor at Bartlesville High School, Bostwick was named the district’s teacher of the year on the evening of Feb. 22 during its 2010 Teacher of the Year Ceremony. A free event open to the public and sponsored by 66 Federal Credit Union, the ceremony and a preceding reception were held in the Fine Arts Center on the BHS campus.

“It’s a little surreal,” said Bostwick, a Bartlesville native, after she was revealed as the BPSD’s teacher of the year. “I didn’t expect to win.
“I’m really shocked.”

During a ceremony which carried a theme of “An Evening at the Oscars,” event organizers rolled out the Bruin blue carpet for its 2010 teacher of the year candidates. The candidates – there were 13 in all – had each been named the 2010 teacher of the year at their respective schools, with the contained voting taking place among the staff members at each site. The BPSD is comprised of 12 schools.
